Marc Craig

A London-based multidisciplinary artist originally from Winchester, with deep Cornish roots. Trained in textiles and ceramics, Marc has never been interested in staying inside one medium. His practice moves freely across painting, murals, photography, sculpture, digital drawing and reclaimed materials—following an idea wherever it wants to go.

For more than a decade, public art has been a major part of Marc's practice. He has painted at Leake Street beneath Waterloo Station since 2014, surrounded by walls that are constantly being covered, changed and reborn. That environment has shaped how he sees creativity: not as something fixed or precious, but as a living process of layers, accidents, destruction and renewal.

His work is closely connected to his own mental-health journey. Creativity has often helped him lose himself in order to find his way again. He is fascinated by what happens when we let go of expectation, surrender control and give ourselves permission to play.

Old maps, endangered animals, forgotten objects, personal memories and unexpected collaborations have all become starting points. Projects including IT VOIDS, MIND THE MAP, MAX THE VIRUS and THE ARK OF EXTINCTION explore identity, survival, connection, conservation and the traces we leave behind.

Visually, his work is bold, raw and often rebellious, combining expressive colour, energetic marks, symbols and fragments of hidden stories. Beneath that energy is something more vulnerable: a desire to connect—with places, with other people, with ourselves and with the natural world.

Whether creating a vast public mural or an intimate work on paper, Marc wants the finished piece to feel alive. If it stops someone for a moment, sparks a conversation or brings unexpected energy into a space, then it has begun a new life beyond him—and that is where the real adventure starts.
